SATURDAY, 34th Week in Ordinary Time

December 2, 2-17 – SATURDAY, 34th Week in Ordinary Time

Green

Dn 7: 15- 27 / Lk 21: 34- 36

FROM THE FIRST READING:          Dn 7: 25- 27

This king shall insult the Most High and persecute the holy ones of the Most High. He shall try to change the feasts and the laws. The holy ones shall be handed over to his power for a time, two times, and half a time

But judgment will come and dominion will be taken from him; he shall be destroyed and utterly wiped out. The kingship, dominion and leadership of all the kingdoms of the world shall be given to the people of the holy ones of God Most High: his kingdom will be without end. All the kingdoms shall serve him and be subject to him.

From the GOSPEL READING:        Lk 11: 34- 36,

Jesus said to his disciples, "Be on your guard; let not your hearts be weighed down with a life of pleasure, drunkenness and worldly cares, lest that day catch you suddenly as a trap. For it will come upon all the inhabitants of the whole earth. But watch at all times and pray, that you may be able to escape all that is bound to happen and to stand before the Son of Man."

REFLECTION

Nobody wants to be trapped or get stuck. In our relationship with God, to be trapped means not being able to move forward, be unable to progress and grow closer to God. Clearly, to be trapped in this manner is not something to be desired.

Today we are reminded to be on guard, to be watchful in our relationships with God. We are reminded that he is a personal God, a loving God. He knows us very well.

We are reminded to stay away from "a life of pleasure, drunkenness and worldly cares, lest that day catch you suddenly as a trap." We are reminded to be watchful and to pray always and to always be ready "to stand before the Son of Man."

We ask ourselves, what must I do to avoid being "trapped" in "a life of pleasure, drunkenness and worldly cares"? What priorities do I have in life? How is my prayer life and time with God?

WE PRAY FOR MTQ DAILY PRAYER INTENTIONS:

BIRTHDAY

DIDI C. VENTURA ISIS T. SO

     NONNA NANAGAS TESS CATINDIG

     ROBERT ONG

IN MEMORIAM (†)

     ROBERT N. TANG

Finally, we pray for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most.

Have a good day!
