Monday, 15th Week in Ordinary Time

18 July 2016

Monday, 15th Week in Ordinary Time

Green.

MI 6:1 - 4, 6 – 8 / Mt 12:38 - 42

Gospel Reading: Mt 12:38 - 42

Then some teachers of the Law and some Pharisees spoke up, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you." Jesus answered them, "An evil and unfaithful people want a sign, but no sign will be given them except the sign of the prophet Jonah. In the same way that Jonah spent three days and three nights in the belly of the monster fish, so will the Son of Man spend three days and three nights in the depths of the earth.

"At the judgment, the people of Niniveh will rise with this generation and condemn it, because they reformed their lives at the preaching of Jonah, and here there is greater than Jonah. At the judgment, the Queen of the South will stand up and condemn you. She came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon, and here there is greater than Solomon."

Reflection

We are in the 21st century over 2000 years after Jesus was born.  Even from the beginning of creation, God has shown a history of endless forgiving and reconciliation with his people.  From outside looking in, we would even dare to laugh at the 'stupidity' and "illogical" attitude of God towards his people.  He is hopelessly in love with us.

We on the other hand, continue to spurn him and then repent and reconcile knowing full well he will always forgive and love us back. Despite all these, he continues to send his good news through prophets, priests, popes and various events in our lives so as to touch our hearts and wake us up to feel  his love and accept his invite to know and imbibe his goodness and join the joy of living with him in eternal glory!

In essence, such is Jesus' reaction to the Pharisees and us that the ball is in our court. We need only to open our hearts to him and he will light our pathways to his eternal Life!

WE PRAY FOR MTQ DAILY PRAYER DIARY INTENTIONS:

Finally, we pray for one another, for those who have asked our prayers and for those who need our prayers the most.

Have a good day!
